House at Thrakomakedones, Athens -GR
Architect: Panos Dragonas
Associates: Dimitris Paschalis, Margarita Togia
Structural Engineer: Konstantinos Tzimas

On a corner plot north of Athens, where pitched tiled roofs are a planning requirement, the house unfolds around an internal courtyard with a swimming pool.
Everyday life takes place outdoors: in the in-between spaces where light filters through the openings, on the terraces, and around the water that accompanies the movement along the house.

The large terraces provide shade, while the pool that embraces the building acts as a cooling element; together they enhance the bioclimatic performance of the residence.
Instead of a conventional roof, a composition of sloping volumes clad in black tiles emerges, lending the house both dynamism and a sense of continuous motion.
