The project defines the basic principles of a model complex of 27 vacation houses, expandable to 170 units, οn a plot with steep slope and wonderful view over the Skroponeri bay.
Instead of dispersing small independent buildings, the whole site is divided in stepped terraces of 3.50 meters height following the terrain gradient. The terraces are covered by green roofs with local dry vegetation. A new ground is thus created that is adapted to the natural terrain and offers unobstructed views to the bay. At the same time, the slabs of the terraces create horizontal frames which highlight the view through each apartment.
The circulation network for vehicles and pedestrians is organized in two levels following the formation of terraces. The vehicles arrive in the basement while the pedestrians walk on the ground level. The cars are parked at a minimum distance from each residence without disturbing the open-air activities. Social life takes place in the pedestrian network outside of the houses, as it happens in the Aegean settlements.
